CHOOSING THE RIGHT MAKEUP PRODUCTS FOR YOUR FACE

Our skin is characterized by its skin type. Skin type is determined by several factors including genetics, age and environment. Skin is often classified into 4 main types

  • Dry skin
  • Oily skin
  • Normal
  • combination Skin

Knowing your skin type is important for choosing the best skin care treatment and products and customizing your personal skin care routine to promote optimal skin health and delay the signs of aging and emphasize your best features and natural beauty.

Dry Skin Type

People with a dry skin may lacks some of natural moisturizing factors that help the skin retain water and may produce less sebum than other skin types.

Characteristics of dry skin

•Skin feels tight and brittle, lacks elasticity

•Skin texture feels rough

•Complexion  looks dull and blotchy

•Scaling, flaking and itchiness may occur

•Prone to redness ,irritation and infection

•Barely visible poles

•Chapping and prone to cracking Enhances fine lines and wrinkles

Oily Skin:

Characteristics:

•Skin appears shiny, especially in the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin).

\It is prone to acne and breakouts due to excess sebum production.

Makeup Tips: Look for oil-free and matte-finish makeup products to control shine. Use a mattifying primer to create a smooth base, and choose oil-free or mineral-based foundations. Consider using blotting papers throughout the day to absorb excess oil.

Combination Skin:

Characteristics:

This skin type is a mix of oily and dry areas. The T-zone tends to be oily, while the cheeks and outer areas are dry or normal.

Makeup Tips: Use a primer that targets both dry and oily areas. You can use a mattifying foundation or powder for the T-zone and a hydrating foundation for the rest of the face. Multi-tasking products like tinted moisturizers can also work well.

Normal Skin:

Characteristics:

Balanced skin with no excessive oiliness or dryness. It has a smooth texture and a healthy appearance.

Makeup Tips: Consider yourself lucky! Most makeup products should work well for you. Focus on maintaining your skin’s natural balance and enhancing your features with your preferred makeup choices.

2.Knowing Your Undertone

There are three main undertones: cool, warm, and neutral.

Understanding your undertone will make it easier to select makeup products and clothing shades that enhance your natural beauty.

Observe the Color: Look closely at the color you want to identify the undertone for. It could be a foundation shade, a piece of clothing, or any other colored item.

Compare with Reference: Have a reference point for what a true neutral color looks like. White is often considered neutral. Compare the color you’re examining with white to determine if it leans towards warm or cool tones.

Warm Undertones: If the color appears to have hints of yellow, peach, or golden hues, it likely has warm undertones.

Cool Undertones: If the color shows hints of pink, blue, or red hues, it is likely to have cool undertones.

Neutral Undertones: If the color seems balanced and doesn’t clearly lean towards warm or cool hues, it may have neutral undertones. Neutral undertones may have a mix of both warm and cool undertones.

Consider Lighting: The lighting can affect how we perceive colors.

Look at Veins: Another way to identify your undertone is by looking at the veins on your wrist. If they appear greenish, you might have warm undertones, and if they appear bluish, you might have cool undertones. If you can’t clearly distinguish, you might have neutral undertones.

Pay Attention to Preferences: Certain colors might complement your skin better than others.

How undertones impact foundation, concealer, and other makeup shades

Warm Undertones: If you have warm undertones, your skin may have hints of yellow, peach, or golden hues. Warm undertones tend to look best with makeup shades that have a similar warmth, such as foundations with a yellow or golden base. Choosing makeup products that complement your warm undertones will result in a harmonious and natural appearance.

Cool Undertones: If you have cool undertones, your skin might have hints of pink, red, or blue undertones. Makeup products with cool undertones, like foundations with a pink or rosy base, will generally suit you better. Using makeup that aligns with your cool undertones will help balance your complexion and prevent your skin from looking too sallow or ruddy.

Neutral Undertones: Some individuals have neutral undertones, which means their skin has a balance of warm and cool tones. If you have a neutral undertone, you have more flexibility in choosing makeup shades, as both warm and cool tones can complement your complexion. However, it’s still essential to consider the overall effect you want to achieve and whether you prefer a slightly warmer or cooler look.
